Using MSIDiff

About MSIDiff​

MSIDiff is a tool that allows you to visually compare two MSI packages.

Starting MSIDiff​

To start MSIDiff, look for Wise MSIDiff in the Wise Installation Studio 8 Program Menu in the Start Menu.

Comparing Packages​

In MSIDiff, from the File menu, choose Open. Select the original package, then select the comparison package to compare with.

The differences between the selected packages are shown in the two trees on the left and in the list on the right. Select a table to see which columns and rows are different for that table. Then, select a column or row to see the actual differences in the list on the right.

Exporting Differences​

MSIDiff allows you to save the differences to a file. To do this, click File in the main menu and choose Save Log.
